My name is Kajette Solomon. I’m the Social Equity and Inclusion (SEI) Specialist at the RISD Museum and New England Regional Director on the board of the American Association of Museum Volunteers (AAMV)

I’m currently available for consulting engagements

My involvement in cultural institutions began in high school and I’ve always believed in the power of museums as dynamic spaces to explore, experiment and innovate. As a result of my art history education and practical experiences, I have developed a keen interest in building equitable, diverse and inclusive museums for ALL through collaborative educational programming and anti-racist pedagogy.

I’m based in Providence, RI. A proud Jamaican immigrant, raised in Queens, NY. A wife to my childhood best friend and mom of two.

I have both a BA in Art History from Arcadia University and MA in Modern and Contemporary Art History, Theory and Criticism from the State University of New York at Purchase College.

“Talking in museums is one of the things that makes them matter, and the way in which we talk in museums is one of the things that define for us what they are. Because museums, I think, as much as they are places to go and see things, are also places to go and talk about things.”

-Adam Gopnik
